Corning Incorporated is a leading innovator in glass, ceramic, and materials science. They are offering a Mechanical Design Intern position that provides hands-on engineering experience in the design and development of equipment for manufacturing glass substrates for Liquid Crystal Displays.

Responsibilities

Work with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes for the development and production of glass substrates for use in Liquid Crystal Displays (computers and TVs)
Work will include project and design activities including 3D CAD modeling, running design calculations and generating detailed drawings
Strong level of technical curiosity and can deliver creative solutions to technical challenges
Work in a team-based environment and participate as an individual contributor

Required

Pursuing a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
Be willing to work at the posted job location
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others

Preferred

Familiarity with CAD Software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred) and FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL etc)
Technical writing, ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers and managers
Innovative and technically curious. Problem solving and decision making
