Director, Global Application Engineering (AI/ML)

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a small global team of Application Engineers, driving consistency and excellence in customer delivery and responsiveness
Own the technical success of product deployments at customer sites, including installation, integration, and ongoing maintenance in field environments
Oversee and personally contribute to technical integrations and deployments of AI/ML-based analytics and decision-support solutions across enterprise and factory data environments
Serve as the primary technical liaison to customers—gathering requirements, identifying project scope, and translating needs into actionable feedback for product and R&D teams
Configure and operationalize data pipelines, analytics workflows, and system integrations that support measurable improvements in manufacturing performance, throughput, and equipment effectiveness
Support pre- and post-sales activities, including technical evaluations, proof-of-concept execution, demos, and presentations that demonstrate value and ROI (commercial ownership remains with Sales)
Demonstrate sales acumen by identifying expansion opportunities, clarifying new requirements, and communicating potential business opportunities to the Sales Account Manager
Develop and maintain Python-based scripts, APIs, and connectors to optimize integrations and enable scalable deployments across customer environments
Debug and troubleshoot complex integration, performance, and deployment issues under R&D guidance, maintaining composure and clear communication during high-pressure customer escalations
Accurately document technical discussions, meeting minutes, action items, and follow-ups; ensure timely communication with customers, Sales, R&D, and internal stakeholders
Travel globally (up to ~30%) for on-site support, workshops, system bring-up, customer collaboration, and executive-level technical engagement
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in enterprise software systems with a strong understanding of data analytics and pipeline systems with experience in big data, AI/ML
Experience in leadership applications engineering, or technical support roles
Strong knowledge in Python for automation, data analysis, and API development
Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their application to manufacturing or industrial automation use cases
Demonstrated experience leading small technical teams and delivering high-impact customer outcomes
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders; able to remain composed and solutions-oriented under pressure in customer-facing environments
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
Willingness to work in a hybrid/on-site capacity from a base in Texas or Arizona (other locations considered) and to travel internationally up to ~30%
Preferred
Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing process control, yield management, and equipment data systems (e.g., tool data, sensors, factory information systems) is a plus, but not required
Candidates with backgrounds from EDA, fab software solutions, or enterprise data/analytics platforms are also encouraged to apply
