Assistant Director of Development
Outer Cape Health Services is dedicated to providing equitable, community-based healthcare. The Assistant Director of Development will play a key role in securing major philanthropic support by managing a portfolio of individual donors and implementing strategies for donor engagement and stewardship.

Responsibilities
Identify & Qualify Major Donor Prospects: Use data, referrals, research, and institutional knowledge to build and qualify a robust pipeline of prospective major donors
Portfolio Management: Build and manage a dynamic portfolio of 120–150 individual donors and prospects, ensuring regular outreach, relationship-building, and movement toward solicitation
Cultivation & Solicitation: Develop customized strategies to cultivate, solicit, and close gifts of $10,000 and above, in support of key initiatives such as primary care transformation, behavioral health expansion, and community-based services
Donor Stewardship: Ensure timely, thoughtful stewardship of all major donors, including impact reports, recognition, personalized outreach, and strategic engagement
Collaboration: Partner with the Director of Development, CEO, medical staff, and board members to coordinate donor visits and solicitations; prepare briefing materials and follow-up communications as needed
Tracking & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM (Salesforce or equivalent); regularly report on portfolio activity and progress toward goals
Campaign & Initiative Support: Contribute to the planning and execution of capital campaigns and special fundraising initiatives, as needed
Ambassadorship: Represent OCHS at donor meetings, community events, and other key gatherings to build relationships and elevate the organization’s visibility
Other related duties and projects as assigned

Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, with a focus on individual giving or major gifts
Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing five- and six-figure gifts
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop trust-based relationships with a diverse group of donors, staff, and volunteers
Highly organized and self-directed, with strong follow-through and attention to detail
Comfort working in a mission-driven, community-based, and collaborative environment
Proficiency with fundraising databases (Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, or similar CRM)
Ability and willingness to travel within the Cape and Islands region and to work occasionally on evenings and weekends
Passion for equitable health care access and the mission of Outer Cape Health Services
Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational abilities, computer experience, and the ability to work within a collaborative team setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft compelling donor communications
Proficiency in computer skills including EPIC, Outlook, Microsoft office, OneDrive etc
Excellent judgment and ability to solve problems in a timely manner
Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently
Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment
