Responsibilities

Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures
Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration
Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission
Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly)
Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance
Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space
Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment
Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale
Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures, etc.), with the desire to deepen expertise and broaden impact

Required

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
3+ years of experience creating English work instructions
Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours if required

Preferred

Master's degree in a relevant engineering field
Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
Manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or other high-reliability industries, with primary expertise in mechanisms, custom machine design (motors, actuators, linear rails, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings), and complex mechanical assemblies
Proficient in CAD and FEA-based analysis software for mechanisms and structural applications (Creo and ANSYS Workbench preferred; experience with FEMAP, NASTRAN, NX Advanced Simulation, ProE Simulate/Mechanica)
Demonstrated ability to perform detailed hand calculations, freebody diagram creation, and complex FEM/structural analysis
Strong expertise in design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA), including transition from development design to production
Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including GD&T, tolerance/stack-up analysis, FMEA, and common manufacturing processes (CNC machining, manual mills/lathes, welding, sheetmetal, lifting/rigging, inspection, assembly)
