Responsibilities

Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks
Perform network maintenance to ensure optimal operation with minimal interruptions
Design and implement computer and information networks, such as LANs, WANs, intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks
Conduct network modeling, analysis, and planning, including assessing capacity needs for network infrastructures
Design network and computer security measures to protect data and ensure network integrity
Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software solutions to enhance network performance and security

Required

High School Degree and 3 years related experience for Network Technician I
U.S. citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy security clearance for Network Technician I
High School Degree and 5 years related experience for Network Technician II
U.S. citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy security clearance for Network Technician II
AA/AS Degree and 3 years related experience for Network Technician III
In lieu of a degree, an additional 3 years of relevant experience is needed, totaling 6 years for Network Technician III
U.S. citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy security clearance for Network Technician III
BA/BS Degree and 3 years related experience for Network Technician IV
In lieu of a degree, an additional 3 years of relevant experience is needed, totaling 9 years for Network Technician IV
U.S. citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy security clearance for Network Technician IV
