The Military Sealift Command (MSC) is seeking an INTERDIS/GENERAL/MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEER/NAVAL ARCHITECT to serve in the Life Cycle Management Division of the Engineering Department. In this role, you will be responsible for managing ship maintenance and repair processes, ensuring compliance with life cycle plans, and overseeing project funding and execution.

Responsibilities
You will manage the ships Life Cycle Plan by reviewing, planning, and coordinating the maintenance, repair, and alteration activities requiring industrial assistance for assigned ships
You will develop short-, mid-, and long-term maintenance and repair planning products for the vessels in accordance with Life Cycle Plans and emergent requirements
You will review and approve estimates of all maintenance and repair work packages, and work with staff and Contracting Officers to authorize funding against these work requirements
You will perform field inspections of shipyards to determine maintenance capabilities in advance of ship maintenance contract awards
You will direct and coordinate development of root cause analysis of all types of shipboard equipment and systems failures including main and auxiliary machinery
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Experience with shipboard main and auxiliary systems, including main propulsion systems, electrical generation and distribution systems, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, firefighting systems, cargo systems, fuel systems, lubrication systems, communications systems, seawater systems, auxiliary boiler systems, piping systems, ship structure, coating systems, habitability, etc
Experience with broad range of marine propulsion systems, including gas turbine systems, steam turbine systems, high/medium/slow speed diesel systems and diesel electric systems
Experience with advanced theory, concepts, principles and practices of marine and naval engineering and naval architecture
Experience reviewing plans, specifications, preliminary engineering reports, design drawings and specifications for ship maintenance, repair, and alteration
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree must lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering
