HR Generalist

MOTOR Information Systems is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support two small business units across the U.S. and Canada. The role involves managing payroll, benefits, recruiting, onboarding, and employee relations while collaborating with the corporate HR team in New York.

Responsibilities

Administer biweekly payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees with precision and compliance
Manage benefits enrollments, renewals, and employee inquiries
Partner with corporate HR and finance to ensure accurate payroll and benefits reporting
Manage full-cycle recruiting — job postings, interviews, offers, and onboarding
Collaborate with managers to identify staffing needs and craft compelling job postings
Deliver a seamless onboarding experience that reflects our values and culture
Coordinate learning programs, compliance training, and professional development opportunities
Support leaders in identifying and addressing team skill gaps
Be the first point of contact for HR inquiries and employee relations matters
Provide guidance on policies, performance, and engagement
Help managers navigate performance review cycles and employee feedback
Maintain accurate HRIS records and employee data integrity
Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations across the U.S. and Canada
Support annual merit, bonus, and performance management processes
Partner with corporate HR, legal, and finance teams in New York on shared initiatives and programs
Contribute to HR process improvements and system enhancements

Required

5+ years of HR generalist experience
Payroll and benefits expertise (U.S. & Canada)
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking
Comfort working hybrid in our Troy, MI office
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
Strong payroll and benefits administration experience
Familiarity with HRIS systems and reporting tools
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Able to thrive in a hybrid work environment and balance competing priorities
A good sense of humor and calm under pressure, because HR life happens
