The externship offers hands-on training in estate planning, where the extern will assist with various legal assistant and paralegal functions alongside attorneys and staff.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Assist with drafting, proofreading, and organizing estate planning documents
Support case management, file organization, and document preparation
Schedule client meetings, maintain calendars, and coordinate appointments
Perform administrative tasks including scanning, filing, data entry, and correspondence
Review client information for accuracy and participate in quality assurance processes
Support client intake and provide customer service throughout the client experience
Assist the funding department with asset documentation, tracking, and follow-up
Collaborate with attorneys and staff on special projects and workflow improvements
Qualification
Required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow established procedures
Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and digital file systems
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Currently enrolled in a Legal Assistant, Paralegal Studies, Pre-Law, or related academic program
Prior office or administrative experience is a plus but not required
Professional, courteous, and service-oriented demeanor
Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative
Strong sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
Ability to work effectively with clients and team members in a supportive, fast-paced environment
Preferred
Interest in estate planning, probate, or transactional law preferred
