The Part-Time Audiovisual Technician will provide support for events at Johns Hopkins University by setting up and operating AV equipment, ensuring excellent customer service, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and strike audiovisual equipment in a hospitality and live-event environment
Provide excellent customer service to clients during event
Troubleshoot AV equipment and replace defective or malfunctioning parts
Support daily operations for the gaming lounge areas, DMC, and digital studio to assist students with equipment use
Perform routine inspection of audiovisual systems and equipment
Support internal audiovisual training of peers
Assist professional staff with audiovisual equipment recommendations for specific events and for future purchase
Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions for future reference

Required

A high school diploma or its equivalent
Strong working knowledge of AV equipment
Working knowledge of sound systems
Working knowledge of projectors and TVs
Working knowledge of camera and lighting techniques
Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem solving skills
Working knowledge of Mac and PC computers
Must be able to traverse throughout the arena and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools
Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs
Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with clients, guests, staff, stakeholders, etc
Written, verbal, and comprehension skills in English required
Work is performed indoors and outdoors as needed
