Responsibilities
Design and build scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and WebSocket-based systems
Manage and optimize NoSQL-backed data storage for performance and reliability
Develop backend services for real-time communication, high-throughput ETL, and cross-service orchestration
Implement monitoring, tracing, and alerting for production systems
Champion code quality through TDD, CI/CD pipelines, and effective code reviews
Collaborate with AI and frontend teams to deliver seamless, AI-powered features
Ensure high standards of performance, security, and maintainability
Qualification
Required
7+ years building production-grade backend systems in Python
BS in Computer Science or related field (or 15+ years of overall software engineering experience)
Experience working with Django and Celery
Built and deployed WebSocket and event-based communication layers
Proficient in at least one NoSQL database
Solid understanding of best practices in building scalable and performant data access layers (using ORMs and beyond)
Experience with production monitoring and observability platforms
Track record working in fast-paced startup environments
Comfortable leveraging AI tools in the development lifecycle
Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder and live in the United States
Preferred
Experience with RDBMs at scale
Experience building GenAI / LLM-backed products
Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques
Experience optimizing backends for high concurrency and data throughput
Exposure to GraphQL or other modern API paradigms
Experience building SSR-based apps using HTMX or alike
