Senior Data Engineer for Digital Analytics & Marketing Science

Saxo Bank is becoming increasingly data-driven and is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and operate the data foundation for marketing analytics and data science. This role involves managing end-to-end data products, optimizing data models, and ensuring data quality and security while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end data products: from ingestion to production ops with clear SLAs/SLOs

Build batch and streaming pipelines on Databricks/Spark with Delta Lake (incl. CDC, enrichment, features/model scoring)

Design optimized data models for analytics/ML; manage schema evolution and versioning

Implement robust data quality and contracts; automate tests, validation, backfills and anomaly detection

Orchestrate workflows with Databricks Workflows/Airflow; optimize for reliability, performance and cost

Expose data via SQL, files and APIs; build lightweight data services when needed

Ensure observability (logging, metrics, lineage, alerts) and maintain documentation/runbooks

Secure data by design: PII handling, encryption, RBAC/ABAC, secrets (Key Vault), Unity Catalog and governance

Collaborate closely with stakeholders; maintain Git repos, clean code, reviews and CI/CD

Required

Proven experience delivering production-grade data platforms/pipelines

Strong Python and SQL; large-scale data wrangling and Spark/Databricks performance tuning

Experience with batch and streaming patterns (Structured Streaming, CDC, idempotent/exactly-once)

Solid software engineering: testing, code reviews, version control, CI/CD

Governance, security and privacy awareness in regulated environments; hands-on PII/access controls

Clear communication in English; comfortable collaborating across technical and non-technical teams

Master's in CS/IT or similar (or equivalent experience)
