FWS Classroom Teacher Student Assistant (NCEF Early Childhood Development Center)

Florida Gulf Coast University is seeking a Classroom Teacher Student Assistant to support the lead teacher in a nurturing environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Responsibilities

Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities
Support children during learning, play, meals, and rest periods
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
Encourage positive behavior and help manage classroom routines
Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities
Assist with setup and cleanup of materials and activities
Observe and document children's behavior and development, as requested
Collaborate with staff to ensure the well-being and safety of all children
Communicate effectively with children, staff, and when appropriate, families
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required

Enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment
Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good conduct standing with the University
Must complete 45 DCF training hours within 90 days of hire. This includes the Early Learning Coalition School Readiness trainings requirement
Must complete Teaching Strategies Interrater Reliability training within 60 days of hire
Must complete all required HR and NCEF trainings within 30 days of hire
Must complete CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of hire
Must be eligible to receive Federal Work-Study funds
Must be able to work on-site at the NCEF Early Childhood Development center in Naples
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to exercise good judgement
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-energy department
Ability to represent the University in a positive and professional manner
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the general public
Promote a common purpose consistent with stated University goals and demonstrate commitment to students and the learning environment
Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies
