Responsibilities

Ensure every employee is paid correctly and on time by processing and auditing payroll across multiple states
Keep AprilAire aligned with federal, state, and local wage laws, and lead updates when regulations change
Reconcile payroll data and produce timely reports that empower leadership decisions
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies quickly, partnering with HR, Finance, and Operations
Validate labor data and maintain accurate employee records to support operational excellence
Provide documentation for audits and internal reviews, safeguarding AprilAire’s compliance
Analyze payroll trends to improve accuracy and efficiency while supporting leadership reporting
Test and implement system enhancements and new pay codes to keep payroll processes cutting-edge
Maintain secure payroll records and handle sensitive information with the highest integrity
Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and clarity, building trust across the organization
Recommend and implement process enhancements that boost efficiency and compliance
Serve as a subject matter expert during new technology rollouts and regulatory changes

Required

Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree and a minimum of 2 years of payroll experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum 4 years of experience in payroll
Comprehensive understanding of payroll processes, including multi-state regulations, compliance requirements, and timekeeping systems
Familiarity with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, and the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations
Knowledge of payroll tax filings, W-2 processing, reporting requirements, and internal controls
Proficiency in payroll/HRIS systems and intermediate Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
Strong analytical skills for reconciling payroll data, identifying discrepancies, and troubleshooting issues promptly
High attention to detail and accuracy in processing payroll and maintaining records
Excellent organizational and communication skills to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, and Operations
Customer service mindset to address employee inquiries professionally and accurately
Ability to test and implement system enhancements, support process improvements, and adapt to new technologies
Commitment to confidentiality and a team-oriented approach to working across departments
