Commercial Development Underwriter
Covéa Insurance is seeking a Development Underwriter to join their Commercial Lines Team. The role involves managing broker relationships, underwriting risks, and driving new business while supporting retention and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities
Own and grow broker relationships across your Mid-Market panel—leading training, hosting social events, and driving performance reviews with support from the RDM and SRM
Underwrite and manage risks profitably, both remotely and face-to-face in broker offices, staying aligned with Covéa Insurance’s strategy
Drive new business by building a strong pipeline and using tactical trading tools to give brokers a competitive edge
Stay front-of-mind with regular broker contact, championing Covéa’s Mid-Market, SME, and Schemes products
Support retention and rate improvement goals, working closely with regional colleagues to hit targets
Keep records sharp and compliant, using Covéa’s systems and processes
Stay informed on market trends, broker dynamics, and legal developments that impact underwriting
Push for smarter processes, helping improve how we operate in the Mid-Market space
Qualification
Required
Strong relationship builder with a proven track record of managing and developing broker partnerships
Skilled underwriter with deep experience in handling complex and high-value commercial risks profitably
Effective portfolio manager, balancing performance, growth, and strategic planning
Results-driven, consistently delivering financial targets while shaping future business plans
Supportive team player, offering both technical expertise and soft skills coaching to colleagues
Commercially astute, with a confident and decisive approach to underwriting
Clear and persuasive communicator, able to promote Covéa's broader proposition and influence positive outcomes
Self-motivated and collaborative, working independently while contributing to shared team goals
Proactive and forward-thinking, always ready to take initiative and drive innovation
Insurance experience is essential for this role
Applicants must currently reside in the United Kingdom and possess full and unrestricted right to work in the UK
