Responsibilities
Own and deliver materialization and CDC infrastructure solutions for critical Merchant/Buyer-facing products
Build and manage a team of engineers through mentorship, feedback, hiring, and performance management
Partner with senior leadership and stakeholders to drive infrastructure product strategy and roadmap
Identify, diagnose, and make decisions to unblock teams and maintain momentum
Be an active team member, diving into details, contributing hands-on, and shaping ongoing work
Influence and contribute to open-source communities to meet Shopify’s evolving needs
Qualification
Required
Experience with large-scale distributed data systems or event-driven architecture, particularly in critical product environments
Proven leadership in managing software engineers across various levels
Strong communicator and collaborator to drive strategy and roadmap with leadership and stakeholders
Problem-solving ability to resolve complex challenges and unblock teams
Technical acumen with active contributions to projects, particularly in open-source ecosystems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, Flink, and Debezium
