Experienced Senior Elder Law Paralegal

Pile Law Firm is a boutique estate planning and elder law practice serving clients in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. They are seeking a highly experienced Paralegal with expertise in Estates, Wills, Trusts, and Medicaid to manage cases independently from intake to completion.

Responsibilities

Independently manage estates and probate cases, implementing attorney strategies from intake to closing
Draft and prepare deeds, trusts, wills, powers of attorney, health care directives, and Orphans’ Court petitions
Handle all aspects of PA probate and estate administration, including tax-related documents, asset transfers, and balancing estate/trust checkbooks
Schedule and manage court filings, arrange for couriers, and coordinate with vendors
E-file documents across all PA courts and stay current with court filing requirements
Provide basic support for guardianship cases, including court appointments and petition preparation
Respond to client communications promptly and professionally
Assist with litigation support and be willing to learn additional elder law practice areas like Medicaid planning and estate litigation
Collaborate on firm projects and participate actively in maintaining a positive and supportive office culture

Required

Minimum of three (3) years of paralegal experience, with at least one year focused on Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Guardianship, or Medicaid planning
Proficiency with legal software: Lackner 6-in-1, MyCase, Google Workspace, and familiarity with Lawmatics and WealthCounsel is preferred
Experience meeting and exceeding billable hour requirements
Comprehensive understanding of PA probate, estate administration, and associated tax implications
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with e-filing processes in all PA courts
Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team

Preferred

Certificate, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies
Experience preparing inheritance and fiduciary tax returns is a significant advantage
Active PA Notary Certification
