Responsibilities
Review Staff Accountants’ work for accuracy, ensuring proper coding, reconciliations, and compliance with firm/client standards
Serve as a key point of contact for one or more clients, handling moderate to complex inquiries, budgeting updates, and operational issues
Prepare or review monthly and quarterly financial statements, interpret data, and present findings to clients or managers
Manage the close process, including complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
Recommend workflow enhancements or internal controls to improve efficiency and reduce errors
Coach Staff Accountants on technical issues, best practices, and professional development
If relevant, oversee grant accounting, voucher submissions, and annual or periodic reports to funding agencies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or related field
CPA license or progress toward CPA (or similar certification) is a plus
2–5 years of progressive accounting experience
Prior experience with month-end closings, financial reporting, and using data to identify trends, investigate variances, and advise on solutions
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and accounting software skills
Deep understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong time management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
