Responsibilities
Lead a team of mainframe storage engineers
Manage and optimize mainframe storage systems to ensure peak performance and reliability
Drive strategic initiatives to enhance data management practices and infrastructure
Collaborate with technical teams to design and implement storage solutions
Provide technical expertise on mainframe storage technologies and best practices
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Work with technology architecture professionals to develop technology and product roadmaps
Implement secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure data and technology solutions are protected
Design and implement standard builds/templates for all technology platforms
Drives product improvements through optimization, enhancements and the implementation of new features and functions
Conduct 'proof of concept' labs for enhancements, new solutions and competitive evaluations
Designs standard and custom technology solutions for business partner projects, including pre-production testing, performance tuning, handoffs and certification
Conducts proactive and reactive monitoring to detect, predict and resolve abnormal conditions in the environment
Collaborates with vendors to help drive design innovation in product enhancements and improvements
Lead production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management
Provides complex production support for all technology platforms
Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments
Qualification
Required
Ten years of experience as a Mainframe Storage Engineer with a strong technical background
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
In-depth knowledge of mainframe storage systems, technologies, and best practices
Six years or more experience with complex mainframe environments with integrated solutions
Direct experience in the design, development and modification of new and existing solutions for mainframe storage environments
Experience with multiple technologies and within one or more domains
Experience with automation of deployment of solution configurations
Experience in training/guiding less experienced staff
Experience with solutions: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and package solutions
