Responsibilities
Architect, design and support robust RPG-based applications that meet business requirements
Develop, manage and maintain RPG-based applications to ensure optimal performance and availability
Implement and manage security protocols to protect data and applications
Collaborate with business analysts to translate business needs into technical specifications and develop implementation strategies
Conduct thorough system testing and participate in quality assurance processes to ensure functionality, quality, and performance
Provide support and maintenance for existing applications, including troubleshooting and debugging issues
Optimize application performance by refining code and improving database interactions
Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate RPG applications with different systems and technologies
Document all architectural and administrative work in compliance with company standards
Train and mentor junior analysts and developers on best practices and business processes
Translate business needs into technical specifications and develop implementation strategies
Conduct thorough unit testing and participate in system testing to ensure functionality, quality, and performance
Provide support and maintenance for existing applications, including troubleshooting and debugging issues
Optimize application performance by refining code and improving database interactions
Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate RPGLE applications with different systems and technologies
Develop and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including system diagrams, technical specifications, and integration plans
Assist with the evaluation and implementation plan for all software upgrades, releases and updates
Document all programming work in compliance with company standards
Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures
Qualification
Required
Extensive experience in RPG programming and AS/400 systems
Deep understanding of business processes within the HVAC distribution industry
Exceptional customer focus and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both business stakeholders and technical teams

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Extensive hands-on experience with RPG programming and AS/400 systems
Extensive hands-on experience in IT systems architecture and design
Extensive understanding of networking and data interactions between systems
Proven track record of successfully managing interactions between business and technical teams
Experience in the HVAC / retail / distribution industry
Proficiency in RPG IV (ILE RPG), RPG Free, CL, and SQL
Strong understanding of DB2 databases and data access optimization
Excellent analytical skills for effective problem-solving
Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of modernizing legacy RPG applications is highly desirable
Familiarity with additional programming languages and platforms is a plus
Expert-level proficiency in system architecture and design principles
Strong understanding of network infrastructure, databases, and cloud technologies
Adaptability and flexibility to handle rapidly changing priorities and tasks
Collaboration skills to work as part of a team and with other departments
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry best practices
