VDC Engineer - Architectural Background
MG3D, LLC is seeking a highly skilled VDC Engineer with a strong architectural background to lead the integration of Virtual Design and Construction processes across construction and facility management projects. The ideal candidate will leverage their experience in Building Information Modeling to align design intent with construction realities and facilitate effective project delivery.
Construction
Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and coordinate BIM models across project phases, ensuring alignment with construction and facility management requirements
Collaborate with architects, engineers, general contractors, and facility stakeholders to facilitate model-based project delivery and data handover
Perform clash detection, constructability reviews, and sequencing analysis using VDC tools
Lead the development of BIM deliverables to support facility management systems (e.g., COBie, asset data integration, digital turnover)
Enforce VDC standards, best practices, and QA/QC protocols across teams
Support field implementation of VDC tools and provide model-based workflows for construction coordination
Train internal and external stakeholders on VDC tools and processes
Utilize BIM data to improve building lifecycle performance, space utilization, and maintenance planning
Qualification
Required
While a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, or a related field, is preferred, candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered
5–10 years of experience in the AEC industry with a focus on construction and digital project delivery
Proficient in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), including modules like Docs, Build, Coordinate, and Takeoff
Advanced knowledge of BIM authoring and analysis tools such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD
Experience implementing BIM for Facility Management and integrating with CMMS/IWMS platforms (e.g., Maximo, Archibus, Planon)
Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISO 19650, COBie, LOD)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience coordinating across disciplines
Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities; capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
Experience in utilizing point clouds and scan data for developing Revit models in Scan-to-BIM projects
Preferred
Autodesk or industry-recognized BIM/VDC certifications (e.g., Revit Certified Professional, CM-BIM)
Experience in design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environments
Familiarity with digital twin strategies or smart building systems
