Ordnance Equipment Helper
The U.S. Coast Guard is looking for an Ordnance Equipment Helper to assist with maintenance and repair tasks related to military equipment. This is a term position not to exceed 13 months, with the possibility of extension, and involves working with various weapon systems and tools.

Responsibilities
You will assist a journeyman ordnance equipment mechanic with work that cannot be handled alone and also performs less difficult tasks alone
Using power and hand tools common to the trade, while working with other employees on the following systems: MK 75 Gun Weapon System, MK 38 Mod1, 2, and 3 Machine Gun System, and MK 92 Fire Control Systems, Mk110 57mm, (CIWS 20mm) Gun & loading system, and Decoy Launching systems (Mk137 and Nulka)
Maintaining and repairing procedures on ordnance systems which the YARD or AGENCY has been tasked
Installing and connecting hydraulic, electrical and mechanical weapon systems to test stands
Performing any work assigned for the maintenance, repairing, and pretesting of components at assembling level to help senior mechanics determine their compatibility with the complete weapons system
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
A one-year probationary period may be required

All selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation
This position requires a Secret clearance
Selectee subject to successful completion of pre-employment medical exam
All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit
This position requires the selectee to pass a pre-employment drug test
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the U.S
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience
Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired
Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision, Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair etc., Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic), Use of Measuring Instruments, Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprints reading), Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment, Trouble shooting
Submit a copy of your college transcript (unofficial is acceptable) from an accredited institution
Once selected & prior to appointment, applicants must provide an official college transcript
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States
To receive this credit, you must submit evidence of equivalency as provided by a credentialling evaluation service
It is your responsibility to provide such evidence with your application
Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered
