Responsibilities
Designs and develops high quality reports and dashboards using MicroStrategy, Tableau, or other BI tools
Create metrics, filters, prompts, intelligent cubes, and optimize performance through various caching strategies
Performs data calculations through data integration tools and scripting languages
Support and modify existing reporting applications; adapt tools to new hardware or upgrades
Analyzes SQL code to understand business logic; implements recommendations
Gathers business requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
Performs unit/load testing, deployment and implementation of the solutions
Works with Data Insights members of the team to perform analysis and design of solution
Support and modifies existing applications; adapts tools to new hardware or upgrades
Stays current on the latest industry technologies, techniques, trends and strategies
Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering questions related to Data Analysis processes, procedures and services
Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service
Other duties as assigned
Designs and develops complex Web and Developer business intelligence reports, dashboards and mobile applications based on pre-defined requirements in structured development environment
Designs and develops metrics, including but not limited to, simple, compound, nested, conditional and level; filters, prompts, visual insights and intelligent cubes
Analyzes tool usage and provide insights on how to improve performance by caching or cube data sets
Debugs and optimizes reports performance by changing VLDB settings
Analyzes SQL code to understand business logic; implements recommendations
Gathers business requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
Participate in full software development life cycle and provides expertise in business intelligence tool development
Performs unit/load testing, deployment and implementation of the solutions
Works with business intelligence members of the team to perform analysis and design of solution
Support and modifies existing applications; adapts tools to new hardware or upgrades
Provides training and guidance to business intelligence developers
Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends and strategies
Assists employees, vendors or other customers by answering questions related to business intelligence tools processes, procedures and services
Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 3-5 years MicroStrategy or Tableau development experience and 3 years in business analysis or equivalent
Strong SQL skills; ability to read and write queries
Familiarity with cloud-based environments and data lake/big data concepts
Proficient with Microsoft office, including skills with Word and Excel, is necessary
Experience working with large complex data sets
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall is needed
Proven analytical problem solving and decision making skills is critical
Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization is necessary; must be able to clearly articulate technical ideas to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently and in a team is vital
Customer service skills including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude is essential
The ability to multi-task, and manage multiple projects to meet various deadlines simultaneously is required
The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines and present a professional demeanor is essential
In addition, troubleshooting and organizational skills with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to changing requirements are essential
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field or equivalent experience is required
Proven experience of the MicroStrategy product suite, ETL and databases is required
In-depth experience of MicroStrategy functionality including administration, architecture and development skills is required
Proven experience with Object Manager, Enterprise Manager, Command Manager, System Manager and Integrity Manager is vital
In-depth knowledge of object management and change control is required
Advanced understanding of core business intelligence, including, but not limited to, BI/DW, RDBMS is required
Strong SQL knowledge is required
Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization is necessary; ability to clearly articulate technical ideas to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing is required
Advanced level computer experience, including skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point is required
Ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options then implement solutions is essential
Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects and meeting various deadlines simultaneously is required
Preferred
Professional certifications are a plus
Conceptual knowledge of SAP is a plus
Familiarity with Linux and I-server clustering preferred
Query Optimization techniques to facilitate high-performance BI is preferred
Familiarity with statistical modeling concepts is preferred
Understanding of data lake/big data concepts preferred
Agile experience is a plus
Demonstrated working experience on cloud-based or serverless environments is preferred
MicroStrategy certification is preferred
