Tool Designer (First Shift)

The Tool Designer will be responsible for providing technical documentation and designing tooling to produce parts that meet customer quality expectations, while collaborating with various departments to ensure project objectives are met.

Responsibilities

Develop and Design tooling to produce parts that meet customer quality expectations
Successfully interprets customer’s designs and needs according to customer blueprints and specifications
Create preliminary design work for quotes as required
Maintain accuracy of tooling designs and documentation as needed
Requisition of appropriate tooling materials
Participates in design reviews with appropriate in-house key personnel to ensure project objectives are met
Ensure the accuracy, feasibility and economics of each new tool design
Consults with in-house departments/operations regarding tool design
Maintains a high level of proficiency in the operation of the CAD System
Understand and follow all quality systems procedures
Collaborate with coworkers in continuous Improvement activities and the idea system
Maintains an organized, clean and safe work environment and follows 6S standards
Properly follows all H&M procedures and policies
Uses correct P.P.E. per JHA’s and job description
Perform all other duties assigned

Required

Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Associate's degree (A.S.) and a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with CAD design software; intermediate computer skills including MS office
Gaging, Methods/Design, Geometric Tolerance experience
Strong knowledge and application of geometry and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other customer drawings/designs requirements
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from project team
Working knowledge of measuring equipment
Documentation design and control knowledge
Leadership and Judgment skills
Good written and verbal communications skills
Methodical, organized work habits
Drive, initiative and follow-up
