Director, Education Research & Inservice Center

Responsibilities
Lead short- and long-term planning for ERIC programs aligned to district needs, ALSDE priorities, and college initiatives
Convene and support the Inservice Center Governing Board
Prepare materials and reports for Board review and approval
Serve on the college leadership team
Provide leadership and supervisory oversight for staff supporting AMSTI, ATIM, ASIM, and other initiatives housed within the center
Ensure performance management consistent with university and ALSDE policies and expectations
Serve as the Principal Investigator (as required by grant terms) or responsible official for ALSDE-funded initiatives (e.g., AMSTI, ATIM) and any additional programs under the center’s auspices
Ensure compliance with federal, state, ALSDE, and university regulations, including procurement, travel, data privacy, and reporting requirements
Serve as budget lead and business office liaison for the center
Collaborate with center staff to prepare and coordinate submission of the annual center budget in accordance with State accountability standards for governing board approval
Collaborate with program leads to prepare and coordinate annual budgets for programs under the center’s auspices
Coordinate with program leads to maintain monthly expenditure records and prepare/submit quarterly budget reports for programs under the center’s auspices
Compile and submit the center’s final fiscal-year budget report to the ALSDE
Work with district leaders and professional development coordinators to conduct needs assessments and plan workshops, coaching, and services responsive to local contexts
Oversee implementation logistics (consultant recruitment, scheduling, communications, registration, facilities/technology) and ensure quality and participant satisfaction
Establish metrics and processes to evaluate program effectiveness and impact(s)
Provide the dean, governing board, and ALSDE with an annual report summarizing activities, participation, expenditures, and evaluation outcomes
Produce interim reports as required or requested
Collaborate with college faculty to inform curriculum, field experiences, and clinical experiences based on regional school district needs and evidence
Support college recruitment and retention activities and represent ERIC/college at regional and state meetings, conferences, and events
Maintain responsive, service-oriented communication with internal and external stakeholders
Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with superintendents, district leaders, and school administrators
Identify opportunities to improve operations and program delivery
Pilot and scale effective practices
Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Education is required
Five (5) years of highly successful school- or system-level instructional leadership experience is required
Three (3) years of P–12 classroom teaching experience is required
Current, valid, and unencumbered Alabama Professional Educator Certificate or comparable educator license from any US state or territory is required
Current, valid driver's license is required
Demonstrated ability to lead complex, grant-funded educational programs with accountability for results
Skills in building and sustaining partnerships with superintendents, district leaders, and school administrators
Experience with program assessment, data use, and continuous improvement activities
Proven budget and personnel management capabilities
Strong technology, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of Alabama curricular initiatives and ALSDE priorities
Regular travel within the Northwest Alabama service region is required
Regional travel and occasional evening/weekend hours are expected to meet program needs
Preferred
Doctorate is preferred
Experience supervising professional staff and coordinating multi-program budgets, preferred
Prior leadership with state or regional professional learning initiatives (e.g., AMSTI, ASIM, ATIM) or comparable programs, preferred
