Facility Engineer
Canadian Solar Inc. is focused on managing and maintaining facility infrastructure and systems for efficient operations. The Facility Engineer will oversee building systems, coordinate maintenance activities, manage facility projects, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Oversee the operation and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC systems, MAU, RAU, Scrubbers, Chillers, Boilers, Chemical and Waste Management, electrical systems, cleanroom environment (Temperature & Humidity Control and Pressure Control), UPW, PCW, Vacuum & CDA system and specialty gases and chemicals
Ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient condition
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures for all facility systems
Ensure the facility system is consistent operating at optimum level
Plan, coordinate, and manage facility improvement projects, including renovations, upgrades, and repairs
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Prepare project plans, budgets, and timelines, and report on project progress
Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of facility systems
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to building systems and equipment
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify maintenance needs and potential improvements
Ensure that all facility operations comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards
Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards
Develop and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures
Monitor and manage energy consumption to promote sustainability and reduce costs
Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives and best practices
Track and analyze utility usage and costs, and report on energy efficiency
Monitor and manage waste generated to ensure compliance to EPA requirements
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, facility inspections, and equipment performance
Prepare and present reports on facility operations, maintenance, and project status
Ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements
Coordinate and oversee the work of external vendors and contractors
Review and approve service contracts, purchase orders, and invoices
Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service quality meets facility standards
Work closely with facility staff, management, and other departments to address facility needs and support operational goals
Provide training and support to staff on facility-related procedures and safety practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
1-2 years of experience in facility management, building systems maintenance, or a similar role. Solar panel industry a plus
Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
Proficiency in facility management software and tools
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Certification in facility management (e.g., Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP))
Experience with energy management and sustainability practices
Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to the industry or facility type
Proficiency in both English and Mandarin is a plus
Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends
Willingness to continuously learn and update skills
