Junior Cloud DevOps Engineer
KBR is a global leader in science, technology, and engineering solutions, and they are seeking a motivated Junior Cloud DevOps Engineer to deliver innovative cloud solutions. The role involves migrating on-premises infrastructure to AWS and collaborating with experienced engineers to modernize cloud workloads using Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities
Support the rapid migration (lift and shift) of physical and on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud environments
Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for provisioning, monitoring, auditing, and de-provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure using automation tools
Work closely with solution architects and engineers to implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS cloud solutions
Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools like GitLab Runners or similar
Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
Support the configuration and automation of AWS environments using tools like Ansible
Troubleshoot and provide support for cloud-based applications in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency
Identify and implement AWS cloud cost optimization strategies, incorporating FinOps principles where applicable
Participate in ongoing modernization efforts, refactoring and enhancing cloud workloads to leverage AWS-native services and best practices
Collaborate within Agile teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and deliver incremental value through iterative development
Qualification
Required
Must have three years of continuous residency in the U.S. (required for government security credential)
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
Associate-level certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate)
Terraform Associate certification required
Minimum 6 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or related fields, with a focus on AWS technologies
Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automation
Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and best practices for AWS
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or AWS CloudFormation
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar for automation
Demonstrated FinOps ability to reduce cloud spend through cost optimization strategies and practical implementation
Experience implementing cost-effective, FinOps-aligned AWS cloud solutions
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality results under pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to technical teams
Strong technical documentation skills for designing and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure
Preferred
Professional or Specialty certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices is a plus
