Responsibilities
Lead a team of Mechanical Engineering Coordinators and Engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the highest level of performance
Set clear goals and objectives for the team and hold them accountable for meeting project deadlines and quality standards
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department
Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet project requirements
Implement strategies to improve labor efficiency, minimize costs, and maximize productivity within the mechanical engineering department
Develop and maintain the overall departmental schedule, coordinating with other departments to ensure alignment with project timelines and milestones
Proactively identify and address any schedule risks or conflicts, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies as needed
Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and other key stakeholders to develop and implement departmental strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical engineering department to enhance processes, increase efficiency, and drive innovation
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including NPD, Sales, Applications, and Manufacturing, to ensure successful product development from concept to production
Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the product lifecycle, from design and prototyping to testing and validation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Proven experience in a managerial or leadership role within a mechanical engineering department
Strong technical background in mechanical engineering
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Expertise in automation systems preferred
