Aircraft Mechanic II - Full time
NEOGOV is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II at the University of Central Missouri to diagnose, service, and repair aircraft engines and assemblies. The role involves ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, performing inspections, and maintaining aircraft and related equipment.

Responsibilities
Diagnose, adjust, service, repair, inspect, or overhaul aircraft engines and assemblies to return to service UCM and public aircraft to include: -95%
Train, instruct, and supervise student help and ensure compliance with FAA guidelines and regulations
Ensure all repairs and inspections are in accordance with FAA guideline and regulations including their own and student employee’s repairs
Performs Annual, 100 HR., 50 HR, 25 Hr. inspections and makes appropriate maintenance log entry’s in accordance with FAA guidelines, which ensures ability to track all maintenance conducted
Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on powerplant and airframe systems and components, including overhauls
Perform major and minor repairs, and minor alterations as needed
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
Disassembles and inspects engine parts, such cylinders, for wear, warping, cracks, and leaks
Listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burned valves
Reads and interprets manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and methods or repair
Reassembles engine and installs engine in aircraft
Removes engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck
Replaces or repairs worn, defective, or damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment
Services and maintains aircraft and related apparatus by performing activities, such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, and lubricating moving parts
Services, repairs, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings, fuselage, rigging, and surface and hydraulic controls
Tests engine operation, using test equipment such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, and ammeter, to identify malfunction
Accompany aircraft on flights in order to make in-flight adjustments and corrections
Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories
Check for corrosion, distortion, and invisible cracks in the fuselage, wings, and tail, using x-ray and magnetic inspection equipment
Clean, refuel, and change oil in line service aircraft
Examine and inspect aircraft components, including landing gear, hydraulic systems, and de-icers to locate cracks, breaks, leaks, or other problems
Fabricate defective sections or parts, using metal fabricating machines, saws, brakes, shears, and grinders
Locate and mark dimensions and reference lines on defective or replacement parts, using templates, scribes, compasses, and steel rules
Measure the tension of control cables
Obtain fuel and oil samples, and check them for contamination
Taxi aircraft from flight line to maintenance hanger and vice versa
Perform flight line support and aircraft ground handling
Maintain shop and ground support equipment
Completes other duties as assigned. -5%
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Formal training (specify)
Three years career Technical Training to include Certification in Airframe & Powerplant
Five (5) years general aviation aircraft mechanic with A&P license
Two (2) years inspector experience with IA and supervisor of at least five people
Excessive standing and/or walking
Exposure to extreme temperatures
Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals
Exposure to heights
Exposure to loud noises
Lift 50 lbs
On call/standby work required
Irregular work hours

Private Pilot ratings preferred
