Responsibilities
Investigate and adjudicate New York Labor Law claims with precision and fairness
Manage litigation and negotiate settlements that deliver optimal financial results
Analyze claim forms, coverage, and policy terms to determine liability and exposure
Partner with legal counsel, underwriters, and leadership to identify emerging trends and risks
Set and monitor reserves, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company standards
Lead expert coordination, documentation, and reporting throughout the claims process
Apply creative, strategic solutions that balance client needs and business goals
Qualification
Required
7+ years of commercial general liability claims experience, with a strong focus on New York Labor Law
Bachelor's degree required
Deep understanding of insurance operations, profitability, and the financial impact of claims decisions
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, think strategically, and resolve complex issues independently
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships
Intellectual curiosity and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities
Proficiency with MS Office Suite and related claims management software
Licensed Claims Examiner (or ability to obtain required licenses within 120 days)
Preferred
Juris Doctor preferred
Candidates with environmental claims experience will also be considered
Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree
