Responsibilities

Monitor daily refinery environmental performance as the environmental compliance engineer for assigned media
Assist refinery personnel to avoid deviations. Promptly alert refinery personnel of any deviations
Prepare and submit wastewater compliance reports including Discharge Monitoring Reports and other monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports as assigned
Maintain the Wynnewood Field Lab certification and monitor performance of third-party laboratories
Participate in regulatory inspections, audits, and reviews related to assigned media
Prepare and submit permit renewals and modifications
Effectively manage time and resources to achieve deadlines and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment
Lead or participate in Incident Investigations of Environmental Events and Root Cause Analysis of environmental deviations
Prepare reports to regulatory agencies regarding deviations. Present data to refinery Management to avoid future deviations
Improve knowledge and skills through training, seminars, etc
Must be able to interface with all levels of the organization
Develop, propose, and upon approval implement practices and procedures to support corporate and facility Environmental programs
Collect and analyze data to develop conclusions and make recommendations regarding Environmental procedures, rules, and regulations
Conduct internal audits and field verification inspections for all Environmental procedures, rules, and regulations
Manage assigned projects for compliance within scope, schedule, and budget
Provide peer review of the reports of other team members
Coordinate and/or take lead as assigned for Environmental programs
Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, questions and concerns
Oversight of consultants for permitting, compliance assistance and other projects
Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering preferred. Other Engineering and related technical degree will be considered
3+ years of industry experience required; 7+ years of experience preferred
2+ years of refinery or chemical industry environmental experience required
Strong mechanical aptitude, with solid mathematical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills required
Desire to serve as the environmental wastewater lead and actively support department initiatives
Understanding how to read P&ID's and PFDs required
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
Flexibility to occasionally adjust work schedule to meet changing operational needs
Proficiency in both written and spoken English required
Strong verbal and technical writing and presentation skills required
Intermediate to advance computer skills using Microsoft Office products (Word processing, graphics, spreadsheet required)
Must be able to interface with all levels of the organization

Preferred

Professional Engineer or Engineering-in-Training (EIT), preferred
Operations or technical services experience preferred
Wastewater management, treatment and compliance experience preferred
