Responsibilities

Develop and implement quality standards and inspection protocols for paint shop operations
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for paint-related defects using advanced quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto)
Oversee audits of paint processes to ensure compliance with specifications and standardized work
Partner with production, engineering, and supplier teams to resolve systemic issues and improve process capability
Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for defect reduction and process optimization
Provide technical guidance on paint application systems, curing processes, and surface preparation
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with lean manufacturing principles
Train and mentor quality technicians and production staff on inspection techniques and quality standards
Ensure proper use and calibration of specialized inspection equipment (e.g., Elcometer, Wavescan, BYK-maci, PELT)
Maintain accurate documentation of quality metrics and present findings to leadership
Ensure compliance with ISO9001 standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in automotive paint quality or process engineering (OEM or Tier 1 preferred)
Strong knowledge of paint shop processes: pre-treatment/e-coat, primer/basecoat/clearcoat systems, robotic application, and curing ovens
Proficiency in quality methodologies (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC) and problem-solving tools
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Flexibility to support production schedules, including nights and weekends as needed
