Assistant Director, Skilled Trades (Electrical Shop and Carpenter Shop)

Responsibilities
Oversees daily operations of the Electrical and Carpentry Shops, managing construction, remodeling, and repair projects campus-wide
Performs administrative oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the Electrical Shop and the Carpentry Shop
Administers supervision and oversight of a work force of approximately 25 bargaining unit staff and may include student assistants
Coordinates and directs the work of others from various shops on construction/repair projects
Assures project timeline schedules and completion dates
Meets routinely with Facilities Planning, Design & Construction, contractors and others to ensure projects meet schedule, budget and campus standards
As a leader, demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university’s vision, values and priorities
Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team
Encourages a courageous and resilient solution-oriented environment by participating in new opportunities to further the mission of the university

Qualification
Required
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field
Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred
Proven ability to manage and coordinate skilled trades personnel effectively
Expertise in construction project management and adherence to timelines
Strong budgeting skills and ability to manage project finances
Excellent interpersonal and customer service capabilities
Competence in interpreting building plans and specifications accurately
Ability to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards
Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment
Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership
Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach
Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals
Preferred
Two of the five years in a managerial role preferred
