Senior Director Patient Safety

Responsibilities

Partners with leaders at corporate, division, and facility levels to develop action plans to embed high reliability concepts, and support specific implementation plans in response to identified safety priorities
Responsible for assessing safety risks and for organizing and managing, as well as assisting with development and execution of, multi-disciplinary improvement initiatives with a focus on transformational, system-wide projects as well as local hospital-chartered projects
Measures current organizational and process performance and safety risks using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques including: one-on-one user interviews, user workshops, surveys, observational studies, and statistical analysis
Act as a change agent to build a continuous improvement culture
Models an attitude of safety and process improvement
Manages process redesign initiatives
Utilizes process improvement and change management skills to assist with embedding principles of patient safety and high reliability across the organization
Actively monitor project risks to foresee/detect potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address in advance
Works with patient safety staff to create and execute safety strategies and to evaluate their impact
Serves as an organizational resource for patient safety, high reliability, just culture, human factors, and quality improvement concepts, tools and methods
Provides updates and reports to leadership on progress of improvement activities and safety initiatives
Disseminates best practices and learnings throughout the enterprise
Participates in scoping of projects with key stakeholders
Leads cross-functional teams through a methodical process to assess, improve, and sustain results

Required

Bachelor's degree and Master's Degree Required
5+ years of experience in patient safety leadership
5+ years of experience in healthcare leadership
5+ years of experience in supporting performance improvement initiatives including change management
5+ years of experience in process engineering with a focus on designing and optimizing efficient, sustainable workflows and systems preferred
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (or obtained within 12 months of hire)

Preferred

5+ years of experience in process engineering with a focus on designing and optimizing efficient, sustainable workflows and systems preferred
Lean Six Sigma Black / Green Belt (healthcare focus) preferred
