Responsibilities
Managing all environmental activities with the environmental department including environmental compliance, permitting and health and safety practices across Westmoreland
Researches and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency
Leads and develops the environmental team
Oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget
Responsible for communication and interaction with regulatory agencies
Provide oversight and internal approval for mine permit submittals and revisions, mine-plan revisions, bond release and bond calculations, hazardous waste compliance, air quality compliance and permitting, spill prevention and containment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
Previous supervisory experience
Good oral and written communication skills
Good organizational skills
Analytical skills
Problem solving skills
Decision-making skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Possess a valid driver's license through the duration of employment
Meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland's policies or Driver's insurance provider
Preferred
Ten years of mining and regulatory related experience
Professional Engineering license in the state of MT
Experience with JDE, Cority, SMartsheets, project management software
