Responsibilities

Partnering with Division Leaders to set and implement division objectives aligned with corporate goals
Providing consultation and training to division and operational leaders on financial matters
Collaborating with department leaders to develop and meet budgets, prepare expense forecasts, and track spending against budgets
Researching and interpreting accounting policy, ensuring compliance with corporate policy, state and federal laws, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Managing processes to support customer and subcontractor relationships and negotiating favorable contract terms
Overseeing daily operations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting systems, operations, and internal controls
Optimizing business efficiencies through process improvements related to accounting and administrative operations
Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial and operations data to support job cost management, forecasting, and decision-making
Supporting staff in effectively using ERP and related systems for project planning and financial management
Overseeing business compliance, including maintenance of local business licenses, management of insurance and bonding matters, oversight of union labor agreements, and participation in annual independent audits

Required

Bachelor in business, accounting, or finance, highly preferred
Candidates may be considered without higher education degrees but must have: 10+ years of in-role experience in a construction senior-level finance or accounting role and/or The candidate is an eligible internal applicant within the Southland and Brandt divisions
10+ years of experience showing consistent career progression and tenure in the role
Financial Acumen: A deep understanding of financial principles, including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and risk management, is essential. The ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations is crucial
Leadership and Collaboration: The successful candidate should be able to effectively lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Division Leadership, Corporate Finance teams, department leaders, and operational staff. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships and driving consensus
Strategic Thinking: The Division Controller must be able to think strategically and align division objectives with corporate goals. This involves identifying opportunities for improvement, anticipating challenges, and developing proactive solutions to drive business success
Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions is critical. The Division Controller should be resourceful and adaptable, able to navigate challenges and make informed decisions in a dynamic business environment
Attention to Detail: Given the importance of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and operations, meticulous attention to detail is essential. The Division Controller should have a keen eye for identifying errors and inconsistencies and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies
Change Management: In a role that involves implementing systems and process improvements, managing change effectively is crucial. The successful candidate should be able to communicate the rationale for change, address resistance, and facilitate smooth transitions
Continuous Learning: The finance landscape is constantly evolving, so the successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. Keeping abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices is essential for staying ahead in the role
