The City of New York is dedicated to improving health equity and community wellness. They are seeking an intern to coordinate phone referrals for the Consumer Contact Center, assisting clients with health insurance enrollment and ensuring proper documentation and support.

Responsibilities

Assist immediate supervisor to coordinate referrals from the Consumer Contact Center. Handle incoming calls for health insurance enrollment from the Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) program referral line; State Information Line; Dental Line; New York State of Health (NYSOH) Marketplace Line; and Lead Capture forms
Assist non-English speaking clients utilizing the Language Line or speaking in the client's native language
Track completion of referrals; record incoming calls; and follow OHIS procedures by correctly entering consumer's information in a timely manner on various spreadsheets
Participate in continuous job-based learning and keep current on tools, technology and information needed to meet job performance and challenges
Collaborate with the Supervisor and management team on special projects as needed

Qualification

Customer service experienceComputer skillsLanguage proficiencyJob-based learningCollaboration skills

Required

Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school
Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school

Preferred

Experience in customer service
Excellent computer skills
Experience working with the elderly a plus
