The role involves planning and delivering instruction, as well as collaborating with school staff to support individual student needs.

Education

Responsibilities

Provide English language instruction to limited English proficient (LEP) students
Plan for and provide English language instruction under the direction of the school principal
Articulate with administrators, counselors, teachers and other school staff about individual LEP students and their needs

Qualification

Maryland teacher certificationSecond language teaching methodsFluency in another languageEnglish structure knowledgeSensitivity to other culturesHuman relations skillsMCPS Secondary Teacher TestBachelor's degreeCommunication skills

Required

Holds Maryland teacher certification in ESOL
Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques
Considerable knowledge of English structure, usage and levels of style
Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors and other school staff in organizing and implementing the ESOL/Bilingual program
Sensitivity to students from other cultures
Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
Completion of MCPS Secondary Teacher Test
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred

Fluency in another language, in addition to English
