Assistant Vice President of Data Analysis

Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) is a not-for-profit membership association advocating for hospitals and healthcare organizations. The Assistant Vice President of Data Analysis will provide leadership and hands-on execution for data analysis and reporting to support THA’s advocacy efforts and internal operations, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights for decision-making.

Responsibilities

The ability to adapt to a changing work environment and meet challenges presented throughout the day
Serve as THA’s senior authority on healthcare data, advising executive leadership and contributing data-driven insights that shape policy positions and organizational initiatives
Represent THA as a data subject-matter expert with member hospitals, state agencies, external partners, and industry groups
Respond promptly to data inquiries to assist internal teams and hospital stakeholders
Lead and directly contribute to complex data analysis, modeling, and interpretation of hospital patient-level, financial, and operational data
Translate business needs into the design and development of analytic solutions, including reports, visualizations, and advanced analyses
Serve as the primary point of contact for new projects, ensuring timeliness, quality, and alignment with organizational goals
Lead project planning by developing requirements, analytic plans, timelines, and related deliverable management materials
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on data logistics, including transfers, structures, ETL processes, and data governance
Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of data, methods, and reporting output to ensure accuracy and reliability
Present analyses and reports to internal and external stakeholders, clearly communicating key findings and actionable recommendations
Evaluate data systems, workflows, and processes, offering innovative ideas for improvement and greater efficiency
Oversee and prioritize multiple concurrent projects to ensure timely delivery of high-quality analytic products
Must be available in the office during regular office hours unless job responsibilities require otherwise or hybrid work arrangement is in place

Required

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, epidemiology, statistics, data science or related fields required
Proficiency in SAS and/or SQL with a minimum of 3 years of experience in complex data querying and analysis
Hands-on experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, R, or Python
Strong knowledge of UB-04 claims data, including ICD-10, DRGs, HCPCS, and CPT coding standards
Acute attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC)
Demonstrated planning, priority-setting, and project management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple projects and resources concurrently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across clinical, technical, and non-technical stakeholders
Highly motivated, collaborative, and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and security practices, including HIPAA compliance
An understanding of healthcare operations, reimbursement models, and financial drivers
Ability to operate effectively at both a strategic and tactical level in a small, fast-paced organization

Preferred

Experience working in a healthcare setting strongly preferred
Consideration given to IT certifications, Project Management Professional or similar certification, healthcare or public health certifications, or experience working in a department of health
