Senior ICBM Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Test & Evaluation Engineer
Canvas is seeking a Senior ICBM Guidance, Navigation & Control (GN&C) Test & Evaluation Engineer. Responsibilities
Providing technical engineering expertise in support of Sentinel GN&C developmental test efforts, assessing performance against program requirements
Conducting independent technical assessments and analyses of proposed GN&C and related missile subsystem testing and test plans
Participating in cross-functional engineering teams to support a holistic assessment of weapon system development
Leading and mentoring junior team members as assigned, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
Supporting periodic reviews of test support and systems integration test results and test plan status
Providing technical support and advocating for integrated approaches to engineering efforts and test activities
Conducting technical test planning and independent analysis of verification and validation for the Guidance System (Guidance Computer, Guidance Computer Software, Navigation/Inertial Measurement System, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in a related field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) degree. Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval
15 years of relevant experience
Senior-level expertise in inertial GN&C systems is essential, with demonstrated experience in the design, testing, and analysis of strategic-grade systems
Expertise in performing comprehensive accuracy analysis on complex GN&C systems, including understanding of error propagation and its impact on overall system accuracy
Ability to derive and apply statistical methods to quantify GN&C performance and identify error sources from collected GN&C test data
Analyzing pre-flight predictions versus post-flight performance to assess GN&C system accuracy and identify discrepancies
Proven experience in supporting guidance related tests, inertial performance testing, and subsystem qualification, including the development and implementation of enhanced ground test campaigns designed to tease out subtle errors and inform error models
Experience with test design and inertial instruments needed to ensure targeted data points can be collected and isolated properly
Experience with strategic-grade inertial navigation instruments, including experience in their calibration, alignment, and performance characterization under various environmental conditions
Familiarity with the role of real-time simulators in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing
Familiarity with ICBM missile systems and related subsystems/equipment, their projected use in the military, and methods of testing
Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and processes - test conduct, data analysis/evaluation, modeling and simulation, technical report preparation, and administrative aspects of ground and flight test programs
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Preferred
Bachelors, Masters or PhD
Senior or Subject Matter Expert level experience and background related to ICBM GN&C
Experience working with DoD organizations, test organizations, and/or prime contractors is highly desirable
