Responsibilities

Meet and train with full-time BUTF staff and plan meaningful coaching cycles in support of BUTF Fellows working toward science certification and norm on Fellow performance standards
Provide weekly coaching support to 1–3 Fellows per semester pursuing science certification to meet each ambitious goals with students and by:
Setting goals for Fellows’ development, in collaboration with BUTF staff and Fellows, to drive weekly coaching and mentoring hours
Designing and implementing weekly coaching plans to ensure Fellows growth including:
Engaging Fellows in regular cycles of improvement and support including:
Observing Fellows’ classroom practice in an instructional support role
Meeting with Fellows to provide real-time feedback and coaching support
Monitoring Fellows’ progress toward goals
Collaborating with BUTF staff and EPP advisors to ensure that Fellows remain on track for certification requirements
Support the evaluation of Fellows’ performance by assessing their proficiency, using data to identify trends in performance, and identifying the highest priority development areas on an individual and group level
Promoting analytical self-reflection in Fellows to accelerate growth and student achievement by reviewing skill-building session pre-work and exit tickets and providing Fellows with meaningful feedback on their responses

Required

Current NY teaching certification in science
Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in science subject areas in New York schools
Strong familiarity and experience supporting early career teachers with planning and implementing strong Tier 1 instruction in science aligned with New York State P-12 Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS)
Experience and comfort observing and providing direct feedback to teachers, both written and verbal, that leads to immediate teacher improvement
Experience leading and facilitating professional development and/or meetings with teachers
Demonstrated ability to connect with adult learners quickly to build strong working and mentoring relationships
Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire adults, particularly in making others comfortable to take risks and try innovative teaching techniques
Commitment to internalizing aligned observation tools, teacher support scope and sequence and resources, thus implementing with integrity
Exceptional skills in time management, including the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
A positive outlook, flexibility, and sense of possibility
Evidence of working successfully in teams and cooperative settings
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis to support decision-making and teacher development
Have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license to travel between partner school sites as needed
