Responsibilities

Provide oversight of physician compensation for regulatory compliance
Ensures physician contracts and service agreements are prepared accurately and in a timely manner
Develop and refine policies, procedures and processes to facilitate consistent physician contract management and compliance with contract requirements
Develop, implement and review department policies, resources and practices to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and accreditation standards in coordination with other departments in the healthcare system
Stay abreast of regulatory and industry developments in the dynamic healthcare environment and proactively identify potential legal solutions to address risk
Provide timely, concise briefings to the General Counsel and, as directed, Executive Leadership about any identified business exposure and associated legal risks, as well as any mitigation techniques that should be utilized
Work collaboratively as a member of the legal team and support work in other areas as may be requested by the General Counsel from time-to-time
Develop and conduct training and education programs related to legal matters to hospital providers and staff
Keep abreast of relevant legislative, regulatory, and legal developments that impact Children’s and its affiliated entities and advise staff as necessary and relevant
Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of agreements
Assist with a variety of local, state, and federal regulatory matters, and prepare memoranda, policies, and training documents related to same
Draft forms for use in a variety of clinical settings
Draft and negotiate a range of commercial agreements
Subject matter expertise in the following areas is desirable: federal anti-kickback and Stark laws; false claims act; information technology; privacy and security; information blocking; reimbursement and licensure; legal issues associated with behavioral health is a plus; physician contracting; hospital licensure; Medicaid, interest and experience in artificial intelligence and associated legal issues is a plus; other new and emerging legal fields in the healthcare industry, as well as familiarity with employment and labor laws; and the myriad of legal issues that arise in the pediatric health care field

Required

Provide a wide range of highly competent legal and regulatory advice in a practical and supportive manner to support the organization and its affiliates
J.D. from an accredited law school required
Minimum of 7 years of experience in a corporate role or in private practice or in the legal department of a healthcare system required
Expertise in contract drafting and review required
Ability to interpret federal and state laws and regulations and to explain these to a lay audience (High proficiency)
Ability to review, interpret, and negotiate contracts. (High proficiency)
Strong communication skills both written and oral, with an emphasis on the presentation of legal material in a meaningful manner. (High proficiency)

Experience with one or more of these: legal issues associated with behavioral health care and minor patients; physician practice issues; legal issues associated with artificial intelligence; behavioral health legal issues preferred
Interest in artificial intelligence matters is a plus
Legal issues associated with behavioral health is a plus
Interest and experience in artificial intelligence and associated legal issues is a plus
