Advanced Practice Provider - Internal Medicine APP Manager

The Advanced Practice Provider - Internal Medicine APP Manager will oversee Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants, ensuring quality patient care and efficient operation of the unit. This role involves management responsibilities, coordination of training, and collaboration with various healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
Serves as a liaison between practicing Advanced Practice Provider (APP) staff and supervising physician
Reports to the APP Director of Internal Medicine and collaborates with the Chair of Internal Medicine on critical department initiatives
Collaborates with the Acclaim Senior Director of Advanced Practice
Management of designated Internal Medicine Advanced Practitioners, including but not limited to: Ensuring all licensure and certifications are active
Appropriate credentialing for the scope of practice for all APPs
Conflict resolution
Coordinates the clinic-specific orientation and training for employees, which may include, but is not limited to, initial unit-based, job-specific competencies, CBLs, clinic-specific testing, assisting with preceptors/mentors training and assignments, conducting annual needs assessments, and documenting and maintaining educational requirements for clinic staff
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, and staff; collaborates with physicians, management, and clinical staff to deliver quality care to patients
Develops or promotes continuing education opportunities to maintain staff education and competencies
Promotion of continuous performance improvement of all APPs in clinical activities and appreciation for current levels of performance
Maintains staff and/or clinic schedule as indicated
Participates in regular staff rounding
Responsible for the management of Advanced Practitioners regarding their individual performance
Has oversight of department protocol and use of these protocols by employees for patient treatment
Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes, and flow for the Department and suggests or implements appropriate changes to improve work effectiveness, productivity and efficiency that support the overall goals of Acclaim, JPS, and the Department
Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support the Department
Coordinates the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care
Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families
Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary
Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group
Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient centered and patient valued behavior
Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care
Supports academic, educational and research endeavors
Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process
Partners and communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners, patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders
Serves as a resource to the community
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in science discipline or healthcare-related field
Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent master's level education as Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
2 years as an actively practicing APP
Current Texas Physician Assistant license OR Texas APRN license
Other certifications as needed to perform job, e.g., Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred
Preferential prior management and/or leadership experience
Preferential current or previous experience in JPS/Acclaim committees
