Laboratory Technician III - Decatur, IL

Responsibilities
Analyzes production and finished product samples to determine product quality and safety
Documents analytical results and lab activities including but not limited to food safety, product quality, housekeeping and hazardous waste generation
Reviews in-process and finished product analytical data for completion, accuracy and quality/food safety implications
Communicates interdepartmentally, regarding lab activities, analytical data, product quality and food safety
Enters analytical data into Lab Information Management System
Assists with daily housekeeping duties and improvements
Performs basic instrument maintenance and repair
Shows active leadership by being involved in one of the following: Lead Technician group, Leader in PE initiatives for the Lab
Plays an role as an active leader in the lab by peer development to align with self-directed work force
Reports product quality or food safety issues to QA
Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices
Qualification
Required
High school diploma
Basic math skills
Basic computer skills
Good organization/planning and problem solving skills
Good written/verbal communication skills
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in science related field
Continuing education classes, certificate or degree in a science related field or at least one year of experience in a science related field
