Robotics Research Specialist I (Digital Fabrication Lab - Architecture Department, On-Site, Miami, FL)

Responsibilities
Supervises the operation of the industrial robotics machines, KUKA robots, Universal robots, programmable objects, and 3D printers (MakerBot, Bamboo printers, and Form 2), and other mechanical devices
Maintains and oversees safe upkeep and service of equipment. Oversees safe storage of the use of appropriate equipment
Manages the activities of the RDF lab
Trains users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques, explains and demonstrates technology and equipment capabilities, operations, limitations and outcomes
Develops and implements safety procedures for the RDF lab. Interprets and implements policies and procedures as they apply to an assigned area. May recommend changes on policy and procedures as necessary
Ensures all teaching assistants and students adhere to laboratory policies and procedures. Prepares and administers lab safety trainings
Contributes to the design and integration of new equipment and robotic-end effectors with industrial robots
Modifies and investigates new procedures, techniques, or applications of technology, integrating new findings in the field of study
Designs, prototypes and builds mechatronic systems using appropriate software/hardware. for improving the lab equipment
Formulates and suggests options for improving lab operations, identifies potential problems, recommends and implements solutions, and collaborates in the development of new techniques
Makes purchases for the School of Architecture, Robotics Lab. Serves as an University card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University credit card policies and procedures. Maintains proper accountability for department ProCard and prepares receipts for reconciliation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of experience or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience
Preferred
Master's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field
Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining digital fabrication equipment
Experience in robotics operations
Experience in training and instructing others on the use of technical equipment and tools
