Deputy Chief of Police
The Supreme Court of the United States is seeking a Deputy Chief of Police to lead and manage the Police Department. This role involves providing operational leadership, overseeing daily security operations, and ensuring effective protection and security for the Supreme Court and its personnel.

Responsibilities
Protection of the Supreme Court Building and grounds, and persons and property therein
Dignitary Protection for the Supreme Court Justices, both domestically and internationally
Maintain suitable order and decorum within the Supreme Court Building and grounds, to include policing demonstrations and large- scale events
Provide Courtroom security
Provide residential security for the protectees of the Supreme Court of the United States
Prepare numerous reports to include incident, found property, accident, and arrest reports, as well as testify in court
Assists the Chief of Police in long-range planning, development, and coordination of Supreme Court Police operations and procedures to afford effective protection and security for the Supreme Court building and grounds, Justices, employees, guests, and the public
Collaborates with the Chief of Police to set goals, priorities, objectives, and develop strategies and plans to reach those goals and objectives. Prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects across all department branches, tracks, and reviews work progress
Conducts inspections, evaluates performance, prepares evaluation reports, and makes recommendations for organizational improvements
Researches and makes recommendations concerning technological and staffing improvements for the Police Force
Reviews various personnel actions such as reassignments, shift changes, fitness for duty medical examinations, and the filling of police vacancies
Provides oversight and assessment of initiatives, programs, and staffing decisions. Develops and reviews data collection to enable program review
Collaborates with the Chief of Police and Marshal on matters of financial management, personnel, and discipline. May conduct internal investigations
Provides oversight of budget execution and fiscal management. Collaborates with the Chief of Police and other senior officials on budget formulation
Conducts training and provides direction, guidance, and counsel to subordinate police officials
Serves as a command liaison between the Police Force and external local, state, and federal agencies
Makes effective and timely decisions in emergency situations. Rapidly assimilates all available information and devises well-reasoned solutions to exigent incidents
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the rank of lieutenant or above, or equivalent, in a law enforcement agency with at least 100 sworn members is required
Must have completed an accredited law enforcement basic training academy
A high school education is required
Ability to write clearly and concisely
Experience applying law enforcement rules and knowledge in federal, state, or local jurisdiction
Experience managing critical incidents in a law enforcement role
Experience applying law enforcement knowledge in security event planning for major, high-profile security events at the federal, state, and/or local level
Experience applying knowledge in creating, developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans or operations
Experience developing and delivering long-range plans
Employment is subject to successful completion of a security background check
Preferred
10 years of senior leadership experience is preferred
FLETC Uniformed Police Training Program (UPTP) is preferred
Advanced education, including at least a bachelor's degree, is desirable
Experience with emergency management planning to include continuity planning for an agency or police department, is desirable
