Product Intern

Responsibilities
Support product managers by researching customer needs, gathering inputs for the roadmap, and contributing ideas for innovation and small experiments under guidance
Assist with scheduling and shadowing customer conversations, capture notes, synthesize pain points, and help propose low-effort improvements to increase adoption
Help document customer goals and basic business requirements, track progress against release checklists, and assist in preparing simple positioning and release notes
Contribute to 'working backwards' documents by compiling customer and market feedback, basic competitive snapshots, and simple metrics summaries to inform direction (PM-owned)
Support the go‑to‑market plan by preparing FAQs, demo scripts, training materials, and internal briefs; help coordinate cross‑functional tasks to meet launch goals
Monitor feedback channels, log and triage issues, track follow-ups, and suggest incremental, data‑informed improvements
Assist with backlog hygiene, write basic user stories and acceptance criteria, help with QA/UAT test cases, and document tradeoffs discussed by PMs and engineers
Help prepare concise status updates, dashboards, and slides that enable PMs to communicate progress and insights to leadership
Build a foundational understanding of Align customers (Orthodontists, Dentists, Labs, DSOs, etc.) through desk research and guided customer interactions; capture notes and share clear takeaways with cross‑functional teams
Learn the customer's jobs‑to‑be‑done (JTBD) and how customers measure success; help document workflows and success metrics
Practice customer empathy by transforming qualitative and quantitative insights into organized problem statements and backlog suggestions
Learn Align's strategic and competitive position and help summarize trends that inform product decisions
Maintain a light competitive landscape view to understand market positioning, identify gaps, and propose low‑lift experiments to explore solutions
Support opportunity sizing and roadmap inputs aligned to broader organizational strategies and goals
Compile data, research, and market analysis to inform recommendations; help maintain simple dashboards for adoption and engagement
Contribute to business case templates with basic models (e.g., TAM assumptions, directional revenue/COGS inputs) under mentorship from PMs
Assist coordination between internal development and partnership activities (no contract negotiation), maintaining trackers for product changes, basic forecasting inputs, and operational tasks
Coordinate across marketing, sales, operations, R&D, and customer service; learn quality systems and regulatory considerations and follow established SOPs
Help evangelize the product by drafting internal communications, preparing demo environments, and supporting trade show or event logistics
Collaborate effectively with engineers, data scientists, and designers to help deliver incremental value
Own your tasks end‑to‑end, seek clarity when needed, and follow through reliably
Thrive in a dynamic environment where process evolves and creative solutions are encouraged
Be a proactive problem solver, escalating risks early and proposing practical next steps with guidance
Contribute to an inclusive, innovative team environment
Stay intellectually curious, be comfortable with technical concepts, and bring a sense of humor and humility
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Strong analytical, organization, and written/verbal communication skills; attention to detail
Team‑oriented mindset; ability to collaborate across diverse, cross‑functional teams
Creativity and initiative—comfortable proposing ideas and executing small, well‑scoped tasks
Comfort working with distributed/global teammates and across time zones (as needed)
Professionalism and respect in all interactions; commitment to quality and compliance
Growth mindset—open to feedback, able to manage multiple tasks, and eager to learn quickly
Preferred
Relevant coursework, projects, campus leadership, or a prior internship/co‑op are a plus (not required)
Interest in Healthcare/Medical/Dental technology and regulated environments is advantageous
Foundational understanding of product management or software development concepts; familiarity with SaaS helpful
Exposure to Agile/Scrum, writing user stories, or QA/testing is beneficial
Curiosity about machine learning/AI concepts and the ability to translate technical ideas into simple narratives (no deep expertise required)
