The Asphalt Roadway QC Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory and field tests on aggregates, asphalt, and other materials to ensure quality control and compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing of asphalt mixes including gradation, binder content, air voids, and stability

Conduct field sampling and testing of hot mix asphalt (HMA) during production and placement

Operate and maintain testing equipment such as gyratory compactors, ovens, scales, and sieves

Prepare and maintain accurate test records, reports, and documentation in accordance with DOT and company standards

Assist in mix design verification and troubleshooting quality issues during production

Correct deviations in processes or materials based upon mix design requirements

Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations in the lab and field

Communicate test results and findings to project managers, engineers, and production teams

Calibrate and verify lab equipment regularly to maintain testing accuracy

Support continuous improvement initiatives in quality control processes

Perform other duties as assigned
