Engineering & Continuous Improvement Internship - Spring/Summer 2026

G.S. Precision, Inc. manufactures critical components for the Aerospace and Defense industries. They are seeking a motivated Continuous Improvement & Engineering Intern to learn the manufacturing process and contribute to process improvement initiatives while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

Learn and support machine setup and teardown across a variety of equipment, including:
Manual and CNC lathes
Manual and CNC vertical milling centers
3, 4, and 5-axis milling centers
Sinker and wire electrical discharge machining (EDM)
Collaborate with engineering to create CAM packages (for top performers), including CAD models, CNC programs, tool sheets, G-code generation, and work holding solutions
Support and track continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency in CNC milling, lathe, grinding, finishing, shipping, and coatings
Participate in larger company-wide improvement projects
Engage directly with employees on the shop floor to gather feedback and identify improvement opportunities
Perform ROI and savings calculations to support project proposals
Conduct and document After Action Reviews to capture lessons learned and best practices
Share information, findings, and successes across teams and facilities to promote continuous learning

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering (all disciplines), or Manufacturing
Knowledge of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies, including Value Stream Mapping, problem-solving methods, project charters, and delivery schedules
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with manufacturing software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels
Ability to maintain and track action items (RAIL – Rolling Action Item List)
Strong attention to detail and reliable follow-up skills
A proactive attitude with a sense of urgency and initiative
Commitment to working safely and following all procedures and best practices
