Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking a skilled professional to join their Engineering Services Division as a Fire Suppression Design Engineering Technologist. The role involves contributing to the implementation of the Conduct of Engineering program and providing innovative engineering solutions in support of various facilities across the Laboratory.

Responsibilities

Apply engineering judgement to design challenges
Assess existing conditions in order to establish work scope
Adhere to consensus prevailing codes and standards, and applicable DOE requirements
Produce coordinated construction Contract Documents
Provide technical support during design, construction and commissioning

Required

Current NICET certification in Water-Based Systems Layout
Proficiency with AutoSPRINK hydraulic design software
Demonstrated design experience in fire suppression systems for commercial and/or industrial facilities
Demonstrated application of consensus codes and standards to facilities designs
Demonstrated ability to apply engineering judgement
Demonstrated ability to function with a sense of urgency and focus on efficiency
Demonstrated experience working with AHJ requirements
Demonstrated ability in preparing and interpreting construction documents
Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both written and verbally
Demonstrated ability in team environments
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science, Math or a related degree from an ABET accredited program and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

Familiarity with A/E/C industry practices
Leadership skills
CSI Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) certification
NICET certification in Special Hazard Systems
NFPA CFPS Certification
Demonstrated expert experience in a senior design role
