Responsibilities

Identifying and assessing legal risks associated with Capital One’s rewards and benefits programs, part of the Premium Products and Experiences line of business

Knowing your business in depth, allowing you to translate and apply laws and legal requirements for the business teams and the business intent for the legal team and legal subject matter experts

Actively engaging with colleagues to provide legal support as part of a collaborative and cross-functional team; and

Working with the PPX and Card businesses, Brand, the Business Risk Office, Corporate Communications, and Compliance stakeholders to address risks, develop creative solutions, and resolve issues

Required

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

Active member in good standing of at least one state bar

At least 6 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm environment, at a government agency, as a military judge advocate, or as in-house counsel

Preferred

7+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency, ideally involving consumer financial services, regulatory counseling, or the fintech industry

Ability to work in a dynamic environment and flexibility to adapt to changing needs

5+ years people management experience

Ability to build collegial and effective relationships with attorneys, business managers, creative teams, analysts, project managers, and corporate compliance professionals, and work cooperatively to resolve issues smoothly

Ability to prioritize work and to manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others
